Il fut des années 30 aux années 60 le chanteur du groupe de l'Hôtel Royal Victoria de Nassau, Bahamas. Sa musique était un étrange mélange de vieux classiques de ces îles, de compositions calypso plus récentes et de ballades américaines. Ses musiciens mêlaient thèmes de guitare jazz et harmonies de groupes vocaux à des rythmes antillais, avec pour résultat des enregistrements d'un humour et d'un swing que peu de musiciens, d'aucun continent, n'ont égalés.
